Unvented water tank cylinder leaking underneath

I have an unvented water cylinder. It looks like it’s leaking underneath. There is water slowly seeping out from around the base. I can’t find any leaks around pipework or connections. Please see photos.

Is it likely to be the metal outer skin that has rusted or is there some inner skin that goes?

Is my only option to pull out the tank and have a look underneath?

Thermostatic Valve

Evening all,

I have a radiator that is not working properly. There is heat to the pipe but only a slight warmth in the radiator itself. I have checked the valve and tried bleeding, no signs of air just cold water. In the old house I had similar and removed the thermostatic valve and freed up the pin. I was hoping to try the same on this one but am unsure how to remove it. Any advice please?
Thanks
Steve

Boiler pressure advice

Hi All,

I've got a Worcester 4000. Never had a combination boiler before. After 14 mths message came on saying pressure was 0.9 and to top up. I topped it to 1.3. Four months later (today 28th of February) it's reading 1br. Boiler has been used pretty much constantly through the winter. Is this normal? I've checked all radiator points for leaks but not found anything.
The boiler is on my elderly mum's so not worried about it.

Thanks

Worcester Keyless Fill Extremely Slow

I've got a Worcester Greenstar 38CDi Classic ErP with a keyless filling link. One of the rads has a tiny leak so every few months I have to top up the system (and bleed a rad upstairs). I should get the leak fixed but since it's so minor I haven't bothered.

My actual problem is that the system is SO SLOW to fill. It takes around 30 mins of holding that stupid blue lever to get the pressure to just over 1 bar.

In the manual it shows the blue plastic fill lever can be pulled down a full 90...

Radiator not radiating.

The radiator in our bedroom does not warm up. I removed the thermal adjusting "thing" to expose the pin. The pin simply slides in and out as I would expect it to do. In or out, the radiator does not warm up. The radiator in the kitchen was the same, but removing the "thing" and pulling the pin out, gently of course, corrected the radiator and it functions normally now. What should I do to coerce the radiator in the bedroom to begin functioning again.

System cleaning after a blockage

My central heating system is over 40 years old. A mixture of 15 and 22mm pipework to and from the boiler (which is 15 years old), while the rads are served via microbore pipe from the two distribution trees hidden away under the back bedroom floor.
A few weeks ago, the pipework became blocked and fortunately a local plumber managed to clear it. He gave me some instruction to clean the system, which I've followed closely:
1 - Refill the system with plain water, run for a day, then drain -...

Flushing/Cleaning central heating system?

Hi

I have recently bought a house which is 17 years old.
There was a small leak from one of the radiators So I took the pipe off and drained the radiator and the water was black/brown.

I took the radiator off and flushed it out with a hose pipe out the garden but it's got me thinking and I now want to clean the whole system the best I can.

Just looking for some advice really on what the best way to do this is as I have never done it before.

Shall I take each radiator off one by one and...

Descale Mega flow unvented system

Hi

I have an unvented Megaflow system, which is 10 years old. Since October last year we have had low pressure in the shower, I have had to take off the shower mixing valve every few weeks and clean out what I believe to be scale from the hot water inlet mesh (see photo attached) . The pressure then returns to normal.

The TPRV valve is slowly dripping in the tundish, even after i reset the airgap via the instructions on the front of the megaflow, could this be causing the buildup?

We...

Pre-filters before water softeners

Hi All,
Looking to install a pre-filter before a water softener, and would appreciate any thoughts or ideas on what to buy.

I'd like to have a 1" thread in- and out-bound, as my house inbound is in 28mm copper, and the in-bound to the water softener is 1".

I would ideally like to have a kit that has a built in bypass valve - something like this :

Kit complet station de filtration duplex Aquaphos Easy

x400 - over-long duration

Hello, I put x400 in our system at the end of November, intending to leave it for a few days but took ill and it's still in there. Now on the mend I want to drain it soon & I've just emailed Sentinel who replied:

"The maximum recommended time for Sentinel X400 to be in the system prior to flushing is 4 weeks. If it has been left in longer it will not damage the system but may not have cleaned as efficiently"

To me that's worded oddly as generally things carry on reacting (till they're used...

UFH Manifold question

Hi all, we bought a house 3 years ago that has underfloor heating on the ground floor but the way it has been installed does not seem to conform to any of the accepted standard. It has a newish oil boiler that is running the UFH temp at 75 (yes I know that is too high) but the floor still remains tepid at best. It is an Uponor manifold and I have just changed the valves and flow meters and flushed and vented the circuits (there are 9 circuits). No change still tepid. However, I am wondering...
