I'm not sure on the whole signing a waiver idea. I think it still boils down to you being responsible

how are you getting to 23/24kg m2..? addy and grout should only be about 2kg per m2..

Not at all, most customers i come across with this issue are more than happy for some extra prep work to make it ok. If they are not then i am probably better not getting involved with them anyway.

They were looking at ceramic to start with so I guess mentioning to go for that instead of the porcelain that would do the job
