Hi,
I understand why Bal designed their thin bed solid bed trowel as they have although by the sounds of it people prefer the Rubi trowels. Would an 8mm square notched trowel suffice for wet areas or is a u shape version available?
Thanks
Nad

The 'web' seems to recommend 4mm notched trowel for mosaics (porcelain)
Is this correct and if so is the notch smaller than you would use on the floor to stop adhesive coming through the gaps?
Many thanks for your help

Been reading old threads re trowel sizes and notice a lot of the guys have recommended the use of a 10mm 'u' notched trowel for floors. However, such a trowel does not seem to exist. I can buy a 10mm square notched trowel anywhere but not a 10mm 'u' shape. When you mention a 10mm u notched...

Over the last few weeks I've been called out to replace singular floor tiles in a few bathrooms and kitchens.
From looking at the dried adhesive patterns, after the loose/cracked tile was removed, they look as though they have been laid using a square notched trowel dagger than a u notched...

I'm new to tiling and about to tile my wet room floor so need a little advice.
I'll be putting down 8mm thick sheets of 50mm x 50mm travertine mosaic on to a floor that has been tanked with tilesafe using Keraquick (with latex).
What trowel would you favour for this ?

Everywhere i go seems to have only square notch trowels. I want to use a round notched 8mm trowel to lay insulation board and a 10mm one to lay tiles (managed to get the 10mm) but the 8 is proving very hard to find!
any reason?
should i just use a square notch? pros cons?
Hi,
I am about to tile a floor which will be 330mm porcelain tile on 6mm hardibacker on ply.
The installation will be over "between the joist" wet underfloor heating.
The installation instructions for hardi state use of a 6mm square notch trowel but I have read that this will generally only...
Hi there. I lent my trowels to someone who was doing some tiling for themselves, and they've let the adhesive dry all over them. There's no way it's going to come off by scraping it. Does anyone know if there's any product I can use to get it off? I was thinking of maybe trying the cement...

Am tiling kitchen floor very shortly. Has anyone got recommendations for best floor trowel types and makes?
Am laying 600mm x 600mm porcelain tiles so from what I've seen a 10-15mm notched trowel is best, and rounded is better than square, but some people talk about rounded, notched ones being...

Hi All,
I'm finally ready to tile my bathroom walls after getting all the prep done, Hardi 500 etc.
The tiles I'm using are 500mm x 200mm x 8mm thick ceramic and will be fixed using a standard set bagged tile adhesive (sorry the name escapes me but was recommended on here)
Can you please...
