well that one is relatively straightforward Mike. it gets a complicated when there's a "he said/he said" element involved :lol:

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt if it's a first offence but still, wrecking a 34k truck... not on.

Any news on this mate? Did the lad keep his job? Did the insurance pay out? Did the customer get their replacement tile?

The customer got their stone..

He hasn't decided on what to do with the driver.. well he hadn't on friday when i called in again to see if he was ok..

Insurance assessor had been out and said it should be repairable but no 100% they are paying out hint.. i will find out more this coming week..

The other downside is he cannot now offer delivery service for customers, so this could be loosing him work/sales..

Dave, yes, the tree. And from what I read the biggest poostorm was going to come from the fact that they didn't get a permit to take the tree down. This was in some conservation district in California, where you can go to jail for cutting down trees (murder-rape-armed robbery, maybe not).

One good thing here is that things vary so much state-by-state. This keeps the absurd demands of the lunatic fringe in places like California from impinging on us here in more moderate states like Virginia.

Building and trade permits, conservation permits, historical alteration permits, right of way permits, watershed permits, blah blah blah...there is a lot of variety in the requirements for a contractor to know and follow. The stuff that I read on the JLC forum makes me shake my head and be thankful that I live in a fairly sane area of the country.
