Did check and sign the work off when it was completed the fitter should av asked you to do this

british standards say no lipping tiles and an good tiler wouldnt leave any especially when tiling with cramics, and they also say no to grouting corners as these are movment joints and should be finished with a movable product such as Silicon, stewart is right they need to be clear of grout and siliconed,

get on to B&Q and tell em you're documenting everything.... photo's, comments and observations from us pro's
and that you'll be forwarding the whole sorry saga to'Watchdog' and to the consumer magazine 'WHICH', seeking
legal advice and invite B&Q to respond.
You have a cast iron case against shoddy workmanship.
Whoever did this tiling should be embarrassed to call themselves a tiler.

I recently tiled a kitchen splash back, when i done it they noticed a vast improvment between my tiling and the standard done by the B&Q guys!! realy quite shocking work i have to say and i pointed out different issues to him, 1 i can remember was a 2 cm cut down the wall at the corner, really bad!

He explained the way the guys work, 1 spreads the adhesive, 1 does all the cuts and 1 places the tiles on!

I agree with all comments above, that is really bad tiling, I have had many bad reports off my customers about the quality of work by b&q, I can only put it down to the attitude of the sub contractors . If it was their name and reputation on the line I'm sure they would do a better job, if any of my customers were ever unhappy with any aspect of my work I would be straight round to put it right, I offer the same level of service that I would expect to be offered to myself whenever I deal with someone, like everyone else, I'm a working man with bills etc and don't take money for granted, slot of the bathrooms I fit are upwards of £3000, this is no small amount , people have to work hard to earn this sort of money, b&q is effectivly the builder for this job, they should rip the tiles off, supply new ones and have competent tiler install them

We have recently had a bathroom installed by b&q, the wall tiles we chose were travetine 480mm x 330mm. i have several issues, of which the project manager is coming to inspect.
I need to be armed with information on accepatble levels of lippage and quality of tiling. I will post as much information as i can .
1. There are many areas of the tiling that has in excess of 2mm lippage, this has been measured against a 2p piece.
2. the tiles were cut with a circular saw, so many of the cuts have very rough edges and are not straight.
3. the window return is 10mm different in width from top to bottom, and i have used a spirit level to confirm this, needless to say, the blind that used to be in the window, now doesnt fit. it is an exact fit at the bottom, but now wont fit at the top.

My question is where do I stand in asking for these problems to be rectified, i have put poly coving up over the tiles at the ceiling and this shows many of the lippage problems too.

what area do you live in as my mother is a manager at B and Q in the fitting department. and has had real problems with the fitters recently.
i have just recently qualified as a level 2 tiler and she is allways quizzing me over industry standards. they are actually putting 6mm ply on floor guys(might aswell put wall paper down)
the workmanship is shocking and should at least been sealed with matching Silicon like stuart said, the lippage is unacceptable and the cuts are shocking. i cant see a pro tiler leaving you with that work. to me looks like a plumbers work at best.
what area are you in might be able to get her to crack skulls and sort this mess out.

okay guys, its been a while since my post. So here is the update: B&Q Sent the contract manager to take a look. he said the were going to re do the tiling. shortly after that i get a call saying they are only replcing the bad tiling. they eventually turn up on Friday 3rd June. and the result is that it is no improvement. The tiler was a different person, and said he wasnt happy to patch up someone elses work and was confident that we would still be unhappy... he was right. the lippage is still there, and the cuts are a liitle better, and now to rub salt in, our bathroom floor has been damaged. Trouble is now, that we cant physically take any more time off to allow these muppets back to do any more work.. i am at a loose end and dont what what to do next
