Re: bad tradesman

Sorry to hear of your troubles bumslap, such a slap in the face for you....

Yes pic 4 is interesting, he's full tiled his way up the corners and opened himself up a nice little gap into which he's let in ridiculous slithers of tiles that don't even match the grout lines.

Re: bad tradesman

look dot and dabbed to me, probably would have fallen off if you hadn't have taken them off.Judging by picture 4 it looks like he has not set it out correctly . I dont even know what he has done on the window just looks very amateur, also IMO the spacers are a bit big. Sometimes when i use natural stone tiles i do not use trim as i feel it takes the rustic effect away from the natural tile but what he has done around your window and the external edge is just bad.

Re: bad tradesman

that is awful in everyway imaginable.....dotted......unnecacary cuts....no trim.......slithers.....setting out whole tile in corners.......

utter rubbish.........cut your losses and RUN....

Re: bad tradesman

I think you have done the right thing and removed all the offending tiling. He was obviously not a Tiler or indeed a Tradesman and IMHO you would be within your rights to send him an Invoice for your wasted materials and any damage to your walls. A visit to the Citizens Advice may be required and in the end for the amount of tiling involved it hardly seems worth your trouble. Always get an experienced/recommended tradesman for the trade in question or look at work previously completed before you have work undertaken.
If you provide your location through the Forum, then administration could put you in contact with a Tiler in your area.
Good luck and well done for making the stand.
John.

.....tiling over paint?....the list is endless, infact it would easier to spot what he has done correctly...nowt!!!!

Re: bad tradesman

They are the best pictures you should have seen the tiles before he tried to fix them, had 3 of your members round before I took them off, so please help by passing word around to people not use < name removed>,

Re: bad tradesman

Moral of the story, don't employ a DIY'er to do a professionals job.

I can only presume that you never checked references or previous work etc. Unless you're the only one whose job turned out this poor.

Re: bad tradesman

He wasn't a tiler.

That's often what we see when the cheapest "tiler" has been chosen.

Re: bad tradesman

obviously a 'handyman' is not a professional tiler and doesn't claim to be one, if u need a fence painting or a shelf putting up then use a handyman coz it wouldnt be worth the time of professional painter or joiner to do those things, but if you are going to get a job as big as your bathroom tiled then you must always use a professional tiler who has spent years learning his craft, ok he may cost more than a 'handyman' but a proffesional tiler will get it rite first time. IMO its not entirely the guys fault, he dosent claim to be a tiler if you wanted the job doing professionally you should have payed for a professional to do it.
