Bidding for work driving down prices

Site's like that would work better if the bids were hidden from other bidders, then the prices wouldn't be driven down. Although it's by donation only, im sure ther'll be a scam in there somewhere :yes:

CJBombero, Yr story sounds a bit like mine. However, I can't even find contractor work now. The last contractor I worked for wanted me to travel a 150 round trip to Essex for £50 a day minus 20% tax & minus 4% admin fee !!! I said 'No' and there has been no further offer of work. However, luck did change 2 days ago when I secured a private job that will keep me busy for 3-4 days. There are a lot of small sites where I live, but nobody is willing to give me a shot because I don't yet have 5 years experience. Sorry uug197h for changing the theme of yr thread. Cheers Sean

i have also recently seen numerous jobs in a local firm for tilers which pay 9 pounds per hour pre tax and these jobs are getting filled,the job stipulates must be time served also so work must be more scarce:huh2:

Been down this road before, Good brickies being paid £50 a day back in the early 90's. It will pass just try and hang in there

Just trying to get better and quicker, the only way I can do that is by putting tiles on walls. Trust me taking home £38 a day isn't what I had planned on when I took my tiling course in May!
