i think it should be compulsary for all tilers to learn how to lay tiles on sand and cement, both semi dry and wet bed.
there will be times when its cost effective or its recommended.

I was going to ask what the problem was and was beat to it

a method used across the world without problem, ive fixed vitrified tiles that way back in the day

the client does not intend using a slurry mix , he wants to fix the tiles direct on to sand and cement screed, semi dry

I've never done it but would like to know how to, so the next time someone is laying using this method please pm me so I can come and watch/learn.

Hi all I've layed on to a semi dry concrete With quarry tiles. I just wet the backs with water then rubbed them into the concrete. They r still down now 20yrs ago.

never heard of laying tiles this way either, thought it would of been a no no. Would love a how to guide from one of the older members.....
