When you say wrote off, does that mean a total write off or just very expensive to repair... only asking mate cos if you had it sold for 5k maybe it would be worth spending a bit on getting it back into shape and then selling it again at a lower price? might cut your losses slightly!!

Probably 5k plus of damage & the motors only worth 5k so they will prob rite it off on a cat D.
I'm not that bothered as it hopefully won't cost me anything, just a bit gutted as I've had it for 7 years..

15yr protected no claims, so it shouldn't affect my premium..
It's a non fault accident on my part so it shouldn't budge my insurance..

It shouldn't but it does. Why else do you think they ask if you've had any claims - "non-fault or otherwise"?
It's slight but it's there and it's 100% unfair.

PS: Don't get involved with a 'credit hire company' for temporary hire car , it's a nightmare.

about 3 years ago a drunk driver ploughed into the back of my L200, did £6.5k's worth of damage, it came down to whether a drive shaft came with or without bearings as to it being written off or not, it came with bearings so insurance gave the green light for it to be repaired. I didn't see any increase in my premiums.

Doug would you say you got your car back as good as it was before. My wife had a crash in her car and after it was repaired it never felt the same as before so we got rid of it. .
