From time-to-time, we have posts here asking about door planes. I've mentioned before the Porter Cable door plane that I have. Many carpenters use who specialize in door installations use this plane.
If you can spend the extra money and get this model, you won't regret it. With the long sole, it almost never has snipe at the end of the cut. The cutters are spiral shaped and never leave chatter marks. The lever that I marked with a red arrow is marked in increments of 1/32" and 1/64", and with your left hand on the door guide (marked with the blue arrow) , you can reach up at the same time and use your thumb to move the depth of cut lever and taper a cut in and out as needed to get a good margin that has been scribed on the door.

These planers have been $400-$450 US for about ten years. I just did the currency converter and this is 270-304 GBP...how does this compare price-wise with other planers sold in the UK.
