Exceeding substrate weight limits.

I remember dan put a comment on my thread before about a tile falling off the wall and killing a kid. Might be worth printing in off and showing the customer and hope they then realise the damage it can cause.

I do believe he will not change his mind,can not understand that some people think that ply is just as good as backer board if you get a good deal theres not much in the price I had a good deal once the board was in 8 x4 sheets 12mm thick and the price at that time was £22 a sheet.

At that price it cheaper than ply last time I used CTD they were £7 a sheet nice to see them coming down in price ,needed a sheet the other day went to tile giant £14 thats with discount.

There is a thread on here somewhere about weight limits which I started and I think sir ramic put a lust up of the weight limits.

Do not tile onto ply. Walk away if builder will not change it. It will come back and bite you in the arse. Weight limits are not even a consideration. PLY IS A NO NO .

Didn't DPF just post up a picture of a ply steam room? Is the builder asking you to guarantee it?

No not yet,he has not decided on which tiler is getting the job will know tomorrow.

new build will shrink. and hairy cracks can appear in ply joints. no best material to tile onto....

You can tell the builder what needs to be done until the cows come home, recently done a job for a so called know it all and in truth he knew diddly.

Ply is a frightning material and some is cheap imports where it delaminates.

Your choice at the end of the day but not one I would be doing.
