yes a good idea but running mitres free hand not good this would need to fit into a wetsaw with with horzontal ajustabal gides to work well so you could push tile through while being guided

Should the top bearing not keep you in line the same way as a standard bullnoser?

I'll get a few made up and see how we get on. The upside of this particular tool is the "profile" is being entirely hidden by design.

I know they work nicely on stone, I've just never made profiling products for porcelain, why would you?

Many tilers don't have/want wet polishers. They are messy and not practical on site. Those that do, get more value from the tool. Those that don't haven't had to spend £300 on a wet polisher but will get less life - swings and roundabouts.

You're right though, we can make this vacuum brazed to be used wet or dry, using wet will more than double it's lifespan.

This is the profile I've asked the factory to provide a tool for. As you can see it actually cuts very slightly more than 45 degrees to give a little extra room and get the front edge tight.

We estimate the tool cost to be pretty similar to the r10 half bullnose tool we already stock @ £68.15 + vat

On a tool of this nature we'd expect IRO 100 linear Metres cutting marble wet. (68 pence lm + vat)

Porcelain wet probably closer to 65-75 lm. (91 pence lm + vat)

Porcelain dry maybe around 40-50 lm. (£1.36 lm + vat)

It will have an M14 thread in the top and although it would fit nicely on a grinder, unless the grinder was speed variable, you'd pretty quickly wreck the profiler and the tile.

Target speed would be under 4500 rpm (I'll get a firm number but that will be close). So that covers wet or dry polishers or speed variable grinders.

This is the R10 half bullnose we stock, it gives you an idea what the fitting will look like. However on the mitre tool I think a plastic upper guide would be more appropriate for use with porcelain, it won't mark the tile surface as so much more of it will be in contact with the finished face.

There is a hole through the centre of the axle, and if you look at the diamond brazed cutting surface you can see small holes in the slots between the diamond face, this allows water through on centre water fed polishers like Flex machines.
