This product has been recommended a few times.. so probs worth thinking about as well..

Gloves In A Bottle is a shielding lotion that rapidly absorbs into, and bonds with, the outer layer of skin creating a protective layer while retaining the natural moisture from within. This makes it the perfect dry skin care product.

It does not wash off, but comes off naturally with exfoliated skin cells. Just reapply every four hours for continued protection.

It's greaseless, non-sticky, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, completely safe and non-toxic.

I use this sometimes and find it just OK, as soon as you wet your hands again it comes off,Need something better, Is there a brand name for this plastic skin or a link?

Thanks Tommy - I have asked for a free sample on the web site and I was suprised to find they sent an email back stating ' Please send an SAE to them and they will send a free sample back ' - Thats an odd way of carrying on I thought, now with your comments about getting your hands wet, which is hard to avoid in our business, I'm loosing interest. I will try the plastic skin stuff though that Tenchman recommends.

As a side issue / related subject : I do find my major probs with my hands - skin on finger tips splitting and bleeding, especially in the winter can be helped by removing the old dead / dry skin on my fingers with a pumbice stone / dry skin remover tool when in the shower after work. This works on two ways, its the old skin at the surface which cracks up because its lost all its flexiblity and the new skin growing beneath it is soft and pliable and hence it does not crack up so easily.
[The other advantage is - if the Garda nick u for something and finger print you - you have no prints left - Dab off Tommy] Only joking of course !! Honest guv
