Python, keep your chin up mate. I am in a serious bad possition too, I bang out top quality work for all my customers and bend over backwards for them, but i never get a bloody refferal!!! I do a fair bit of work with Wivers or sometimes FOR Wivers and he has had a fair bit of repeat business from work that i have done for him!!!!!!!!!! imagine how frustrating that is???

Gotta point out though that any work he gets in off the back of me he always gets me involved with, but the point i'm making is i think after all is said and done a lot comes down to luck! And the more you put yourself about the more luck that might come your way.

I have exhausted every avenue to try and get work in (and beleive me i am not shy when it comes to asking for what i want) but still my phone wont ring!!!

So your not on your own mate, it is really really tough at the moment.

cheers mate, im looking at your location. the sad thing is i might be in my caravan soon if this keeps up, done some ads on gumtree last night, my phone is ringing now. with bloody ad companies. argghhh. what im thinking is if i get another job ill still put my name about. ill get some little bits from friends and family to keep my hand in, not giving in just tired of the phone not ringing. keep your chin up as well mate.

Living in a caravan is no fun mate, it's hardcore and i bloody hate it. But my situation is probably a one off so i have to just accept it (FOR NOW!!)

Keep the work coming in from any avenue and keep your name plugged in to your trade, keep in touch with all the tile centres etc and give your cards to people everywhere. You never know who will call.

Thanks for the encouragment mate, this forum really helps keep me sane at times lol.

Have you looked at recruitement websites? One like Totaljobs.co.uk (I think it was) had a tiler job for a long term contract available. £9-10 an hour... worth a try if you would avoid that caravan. :smilewinkgrin:

Gosh, we haven't had more than a few calls from those people during the last month... you should report them to Gumtree for spam.

But on the other hand you know it is working... :lol: (sorry)

Python i just put an add onthat gumtree and have already received a call from yell.com.......... the only difference is i have decided to give it a go, don't know if you actually listened to what they offer but i thought that just this once i would hear them out (nothing to loose and i have tried everything else) it does actually sound pretty good and it aint a bad price either.

Maybe next time they call you could let them tell you what they got and how they work etc. Might be slightly different down here but it does sound good, give it a go mate. I'm fairly hopefull that i will get a response off the back of it.

Although if you would rather wait and see how i get on with them that's fine with me mate, i will just private mail you when something happens.
