Is this a bad grouting job due to;
too much water in the grout mix?
not enough grout pushed in?

Is this bad tiling due to;
not measuring before setting?

Is the answer to;
grout over the existing grout (72 hours later)?
pull it down and start again?

Do tilers as a matter of course, grout twice, due to 'shrinkage after first application; especially grey grout with charcoal in it', or is this just nonsense to literally cover up a bad job/ fob us off. (The shop has confirmed that the grout does not shrink).

Is it ok to grout on top of new grout? Will it just chip off?

It's absolutely horrendous grouting. Tiling doesn't look great but hard to tell from such close up photos.

You have a part of a spacer stuck in a joint that has been grouted in. There is grout missing, grout washed out too much,excess grout that hasn't been cleaned off with be solid now and require some elbow grease to remove, internals shouldn't be grouted in.

Grout doesn't really stick to grout all that well, it would need raked out and done again in the worst areas.

Yes that is nonsense. I hate grouting once, if i had to do it twice on every job i would be in mcdonalds working. It's a sloppy job and i'd probably guess they have never grouted before.

Thank-you for your reply. I thought it was bad and am concerned about their idea to grout over the top. I also wondered why they had grouted where the Silicon is supposed to go tomorrow.

We agreed they would grout over it/ Silicon and clean up tomorrow. I am not sure about this and think it needs ripping down as also the small tiling at the top has been stuck on with guerilla glue where they had not measured the tiles to navigate a 1 inch gap at the ceiling.

I just needed confirmation that this is not due to the 'grout shrinking because it has charcoal in it', but that it is due to poor grouting in the first place. I have a battle on my hands though as they think it's ok to just grout on top and have fobbed me off.
