no room under my washing machine

take up the chipboard floor and replace with 18mm ply

this is easier said than done as you will need wind up the feet on the units , break out the floor and slide the bords under

you will also need a right angle drill to screw down

i havent done this for tiling but have done it for insurance companies when a leaky w/ machine has destroyed a chipboard floor

it may be easier to remove your kitchen and refit

you could cut round the machine, this is not a good practice but i have done it once in the past as there was no other option,,neatly cut with the feet raised as high as they can go on the machine and you lose the cut under the machine ,always keep spare tiles for future incase the machine breaks down and needs replaced

Hi,

Do you mean the tiles will only go under the front off the machine?

Cheers

Paul

If the deflection is ok then you could use hardi 250( 6mm).. not a lover of tiling direct to chipboard but the hardi will give a more stable substrate..

Quick question.. not a floating floor is it..?

hi paul, every situ is different however on the job i did this i discussed it with the customer and it was the only way to proceed with the job. the machine was tightly fitted on the sides as well so you could nt really see much up the sides and finished the front of it with a cut and the tile slipped under the front flap at the bottom of machine no problem so you couldnt even see that it wasnt tiled under

The problem doing it that way is if the pump etc gets blocked on the machine, you will have to smash tiles to get the machine out..
