PC under attack

i had a something on my lap top last april, it wouldnt let me download any anti virus, so i ended up paying a guy to wipe my laptop for 40 quid...sounds like a bad one you've got!

With respect, the guy sold you nonsense. Nearly everything is fixable. Certainly having a virus doesnt need you hdd reformatting. I hope, for £40, he removed all your important documents and put them on a DVD for you before he did that?

hi bolter

he did remove all important docs etc...he tried everything but he said that this was the only way to make sure?? perhaps he didnt give me the right service but it worked so i suppose it all worked out in the long run..the laptop has been fine since to be fair....i'll knoe better next time, you win some, you lose some hey mate ...

Ok, I started up in safe mode, I managed to run Microsoft security essentials, it found a trojan-dropper, that got deleted but its still the same, security alerts all over it yet AVG is up to date and running, security essentials seems to be running. I have no idea now.
I think I will have to take it to my mate in Audley, he will fix it.

Many thanks for the call Rob (CR) I will keep trying until I take it to my friends house.

Dom, I'm no 'puter whizz (as Sir Ramic will testify!) have you got your files backed up? if so, I'd take your machine in and get it completely purged, and then get your OS reinstalled.

hope you get it sorted dom, i am lost when it comes to pc viruses and anything like that...
