but personally I would rather work for £7 an hour than not at all, still far more than minimum wage a lot of places offer.

like leatherface says £7 a hour is better than nothing alot of lads are out of work now and will snap it up its a harsh wage but its money at the end of the day as long as it pays the bills

It doesn't always work out like that guys, sometimes earning nothing is better than taking a poorly paid job. A guy that worked for me took a job at Tesco’s as I only had work for him on a casual basis - 1 week here, 1 week there - He preferred the guaranteed hours but in the end he missed out on work that I had for him because he wasn't available so I got someone else, It became apparent that he could earn more in a month working for me on a temporary basis and in the time I didn't have work for him, he could look for a long term job that paid a decent wage.

Its 7 quid an hour for 30 hours a week
lets say an average of 15 m2 a day or even 10 m2 a day in a ten hour day

thats 30m2 for 210 quid BEFORE TAX
so we're looking at £180 after tax

thats £6 per m2...
cost of van
cost of tools
cost of diesel
cost of insurance

Well me, i'd rather sweep the streets than give someone the benefit of my tiling skills for what amounts to less than the minimum wage!!

There is something seriously wrong in this country with SKILLED people working for that amount of money :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:
