Aqua Tiling

hi all, just wondering what was your worse experience that your've ever had on a job, i.e. bad costumer, broke something in the customers house, problems with the tiles.

Not only do want to know your worse, but also what you did to rectify it or calm the situation down or what ever ou did to put it right

Cheers

When i started i grouted above a bath (ply) with standatd grout instead of flexi...had to cut it all out and regrout as it cracked.
Still, it was the reason i bought a fein which has been great. Every cloud has a silver lining.
A day of my time learning a very good lesson.

A barn where a women had these yappy little dogs which she bred.

It was in the snows last year and the local rodents wanted any food they could get.

Mice climbing walls, running thru my addy which I'd put down and then running over the tiles I'd laid, it was manic and then Mr Ratty showed himself.

Hated that job:incazzato:

I tiled a ladies kitchen walls, and floor after she had a brand new kitchen fitted. All seemed to be going well, and she was mega pleased until I went round to get payment.

She pointed out that I had scratched her new cooker (even though I removed it from the room on the first day), scratched her new extractor above her cooker (all the tiling was below the extractor) and one of her kitchen units had a dent in the door.

Now I know I didnt do any of the damage, but felt I had to offer her something. So I paid for a new kitchen cupboard door (£35) and argued that none of it was by me. I am very careful.

Eventually, she paid, but for a while I was facing a £500 bill for tiles and materials.

I was re-tiling a bathroom and the old existing shower base was being re-used i covered the shower base with dust sheets and then i dropped a tile:mad2: you guessed it, there was a nice hole in the shower tray, i replaced it with a new one free of charge of course. I now cover shower trays and bath with ply, i learnt my lesson!

The funniest thing i ever did see was when a painter was painting a ceiling and he placed a milk crate in a bath and stood on it to paint the ceiling!
I hears a crunch noise and turned round and saw the painter removing the milk crate from the bath, the milk crate was the one with the 4 lugs on each corner and all four lugs had gone threw the bottom of the bath :lol::lol:

😳😳 What an Eejit, that was bound to happen. :ban:

about to finish tiling a bathroom i had done three others plus full kitchen + connie floor it was a big job

the plumber who had been an arse from day one was pressurizing the boiler upstairs

all carpets had been fitted all oak beams oiled the day before

well it blew a safety tap head off in the cuboard he was working in and 1 1/2 bar of water pressure ripped throught the house flooded the whole of the downstairs the oil off the beams now in the new carpets ruined

he had been an arse to everyone on site but the rest of us got on great

all i heard from the chippies down below was

'Captain Weve sprung a leak '

no one helped him

what goes around comes around

i enjoyed that day

the customer was i think that poison dwaft labour mp cant think of her name now but i spent one whole day with her choosing the tiles and she was a horror

I think I've been relatively lucky so far,the worst I've had is one lady telling me I'd laid the tiles the wrong way round even though she never told me until the end of the day,had to rip it all off and start again, the other job was when I turned up to start a job and it was travertine tiles after I specifically told him to give me plenty of notice that he wasn't getting ceramic or porcelain tiles, told him I was too booked up to get his job done in the timescale i'd allowed and would have to come back at a different date then had to rearrange my schedule for the month plus even thouh I changed the price still ended up working 2 bloody days for free:mad2:

I know one tiler who got a mate to do a big job for him with underfloor heating and the bloke did it wrong and cost the other tiler over £7500 to rip up the ufh and replace it😳

we did a big indoor pool , that was joy to work on , all the lads on site were great boys! the Foreman lad was a bit of a dick, young lad that knew nothing -but liked to pick tradesmen brains then report back to the owner like he knew his stuff, yes you know the type! anyway the owner was pleased with wot we had done and kept telling us so, this one day the owner is showing off to a group of his Friends and he says to a them out loud and the man responsible for all of this loverly work is Paul the Foreman!!! i nearly puooked up!!! and so did most of the over lads on site, according to the tea room talk that day!!:lol::lol:

Had a few.

Last one was a pool surround, into shower/changing room. Guy KEPT on changing his mind.......but a lot of the time he changed his mind was in the evening when I wasn't there. Kept turning up for work in the morning, to find HE had taken up tiles himself, because he wanted a border up against some curved steps, that I had taken ALL day to cut the curves...........but he hadn't removed the tacky cement, which was now fairly solid.

Done the same to steps into shower/changing rooms and steps into his hallway.

When that job was finished...........I walked. He wanted more done, but stuff that for a mullarky.

I was lucky If I'm honest...........I was on day rate , but his material bill was horrendous :mad2:
