I have a specific scenario where my new spot light/flood light pods have three wires feeding them. (Black-Ground, Red-white LED, Yellow-Amber LED) as you can imagine I’d like to have a simple operation to use on or the other but only if the fog light switch is active essentially giving the go ahead to the pods to them be selected for the desired output color.

Shower pump wired off shower Electrical Advice

Shower pump wired off shower Discussion ThreadShower pump wired off shower Electrical Advice

Work for a company who sub contracts to the local council and looking for some advice.
In the domestic properties the council have wired a shower pump off the load side of the showers in 2.5mm (40A RCBO) which then serves a 13A switched fused spur to feed the shower pump. I am unsure this is ok as a shower is a fixed load and worried about overload on the 2.5mm?
the council say it’s covered...

Definition of own circuit Electrical Advice

Definition of own circuit Discussion ThreadDefinition of own circuit Electrical Advice

H5 relating to an immersion heating over 15 litres of water says:

Should be supplied by their own separate circuit.

No mention of sub circuits, nothing. A final ring with 13A mcb off the ring, then a 20A switched-cord outlet connection unit complies. It then has its own separate circuit. A circuit not shared with any other outlet or appliance.

Ok, I haven't posted for a while, so now I am! I will post a thread a day for 5 days if I can find anything to say, and instead of covering numerous matters in one thread I'll spread them out.
This initial post is about two things, first of which is I can't see the blue "New Posts" button at the bottom of a thread. Secondly, and more of a rant:
Kitchen fitters! Need I say more? No, life's too short. Suffice to say...

Electric Fire Install - Gas pipe consideration Discussion ThreadElectric Fire Install - Gas pipe consideration Electrical Advice

Disclaimer - this isn't directly related to electrical matters. Rather it's a question about a situation which has cropped up during my going to quote an electrical job, and is basically me looking for any hints as to how to make certain (or as certain as possible) that I'm not going to drill through a gas pipe. As such hopefully its still not off topic...

Converting Crabtree Starbreaker to full RCBO..? Discussion ThreadConverting Crabtree Starbreaker to full RCBO..? Electrical Advice

Evening All

Quick question please and hope it's poss.

With an older star breaker split load DB, can I take out all the guts (apart from 100 DP iso) and convert to full rcbo?

Are all the 'plug in bits' a live terminal (e.g behind where RCCB currently is) ?

Would make my life easier if so ;-)

Thanks Sy

Relay for a car horn upgrade. Discussion ThreadRelay for a car horn upgrade. Electrical Advice

OK, I only know the very basics when it comes to electrical circuits so any help will be really appreciated.
The horn on my car is a single tone sounder, (factory fitted). I'm curious if I can upgrade it to a dual tone. I'm aware that I may have to wire them as a parallel circuit but would I need to upgrade to a different relay as well?
Could I as an alternative swap to a different 'rated'...

Forum Categories have Wicked Content Discussion ThreadForum Categories have Wicked Content Electrical Advice

Been working on these on all my forums and it's a really cool way to use the categories which otherwise just have the same forums in them as is displayed on the homepage, so its kinda duplicate content and Google doesn't like that.

So I've worked out a way to show some of the biggest threads, or busiest threads, or trending threads (quickly climbing in either).

the RCDs are rated at 63A. There is no way of configuring the supplied MCBs that doesn't exceed 63A.
