you need to ask for a cement (powder) based flexible adhesive. you'll have to mix it yourself with water. if your tiles are white or a light colour get a white adhesive. the shop will prob try and give you a rapid set adhesive, just be careful when using rapid set as it will set really fast. you'll only get about 20-30mins bucket time. I'd advise you ask for a slow setting adhesive unless your husband is a quick tiler. goog

Yep, a standard set single part flexible ( spf ) adhesive, that will give hubby plenty of time and will do the job nicely, what tile shop (chain) is it your going to ?

local tile shop not a chain but will be going to topps and buying bal. have we got to get all the grout off the wall? my husband is chiselling as we speak! the aqua panel was really expensive or we would have taken the lot down.

just get as much as possible off so its flat as possible. as long as there not massive lumps the trowel should get over a little unevenness. i always find grout comes off quite easily with a scraper or a little knock.

Try and get as much off as possible, as has been mentioned before, try soaking the adhesive ( not grout 🙂 ) to loosen it up prior to scraping.

just contacted the tile shop, guy says never had any problems before(would say that though) he says he will give us tilemaster single part flexible in white, slow setting.will that be ok? is tilemaster an ok brand? we contacted soverein and they even said it was wrong for the size of tile33x50,he said it would never dry out and that it is not waterproof, the guy at the tile shop said sovereign has never told them that!! hubby still chiseling away minus a days pay for taking the day off to get it sorted.:mad2:

ceramic tiles. should i insist on a refund and go for bal?

Is he giving you the adhesive or are you having to buy it ? For piece of mind I would go for Bal or Mapei not to say the the other adhesive is no good, just never used it, something nagging me that it might be a better known brand that has been re-branded ... anyone ?
