If they decide you're running a business from the address could you be in for business rates?
Theres something about if you come round to selling your house and the part that is used for business will be subject to a tax of sorts...
 
And likely to be planning regs involved for using it as a business workshop (as opposed to just a registered office). Probably not somewhere you'd want to go with the Council.

I'd try and keep her happy with sound proofing.

If it is a workshop though check your insurance is okay.
 
Tell her to sod off,unless you like her,then soundproof.
It's a bit paranoid thinking the council will do you for cutting a few tiles in ya garage , Christ do half of you wear tin foil on ya head to stop 'them' taking your brain over 😉
