a sad day

Just a footnote to say thankyou all for your advice and kind words.
After trying to get him re-housed to no avail, he finally ran out of luck today when he bit my wife again.
Sid was put to sleep tonight at 6pm. More in the spirit of his old self he was no fuss and lay down quietly and went.
I have to mention the staff at our vets were brilliant. No one likes to see such a young animal put down, but if there is such a thing, they made it as nice as it could possibly be. I'll be having a can or two tonight and I'm not too proud to say a few tears.
I reckon part of being close to an animal is having to say goodbye at some point. and although I'm sure some of you, not knowing him, will think I'm barmy..He really will be missed.

Not at all!! Im really sorry mate.
I lost my cat a while ago and I cried like a baby for days, still get a lump in my throat every now and again.

I hope your wife is OK?

Jamie... I don't want to say too much here.. as i know dogs become family members quickly..

You did the right thing and i hope you and your family will have fond memories of Sid.

Dave..

Thanks. I know in my logical mind we did. You just can't help, right up to the last minute thinking 'there must be a way out of this'...pretty much the worst thing I've ever had to do. mostly cos the poor buggers trust you and don't know what's going on. I drove around until the kids were safely in bed so they didn't see me come home without him. We'll have to tell them tomorrow..not looking forward to that.

you'll be looking round the house for him for a few days Jamie, but you did the right thing imho:thumbsup:

Sad end jamie but you done the right thing,it's not your fault he turned on your wife but you have to protect her and your whole family:thumbsup:
