Trouble is, it's finding someone else who is willing to try and make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Not many would even consider accepting a job like it. Sorry!!

If the whole job need scrapping and re-doing, then the only option is to sue her for the total cost, which wouldn't be easy, and could be a lengthy procedure.

yep and this is where I don't have the time or money to do this, I think im going to have to try and find someone that will correct some of the real big mistakes and try and accept the wonky walls, thin cuts etc, or it could be mths fighting this out and leaving with my bathroom not finished, no shower and possible more breakage to floor tiles left ungrouted and vulnerable, its very stressful

the reason setting out the tiles befo4re hand is so important before starting is if you have a small cut you have to take the lot down and start again. the small cuts cant be rectified without the lot or at least a whole wall coming down. scrap and restart get that ex of yours to rip it out for his daughters sake if he is any kind of father.

that's the problem he isn't that great a father, shes getting bullied and hes doing nothing to help so I cant see him doing this for me, but that's another issue, then I will have to order and pay for a whole wall of tiles, Im running out of money as allocated ex amount for each room In the house as whole house needed doing . I think I need someone that is an experienced tiler to come and look and tell me what they think and give me a price , then once I get a price ill know what I can afford.

the latest email from her says you get what you paid for I gave you a cheap price for this job, she really is something else lol

I hope you are keeping all these emails safe. They could be useful if push comes to shove.

yes ive definitely kept them , this is 2 quotes from 2 of her emails

But I'm not paying out more, as *** was a ridiculously cheap quote for the job to be done. What do you expect if you go for super cheap quotes

I replied to that your admitting you have provided shoddy work then , shes replied

No, I'm saying that cheap quotes are either cowboys or people who are new to the trade. Both usually provide a lower quality service than the more expensive quotes (not necessarily on purpose), everyone knows that.

Her website quotes

"I am a qualified female plasterer and tiler based in Milcombe, near Banbury, in Oxfordshire. I pride myself on providing an exceptionally high standard of work, whilst ensuring a completely professional and reliable service.

I undertake a wide variety of plastering, tiling and finishing work, from plastering a small patch to a full property renovation."

"
Whatever the size of the job I will ensure all work is carried out to a high standard at a good price, whilst making certain all work areas are kept clean. I undertake a variety of plastering work and associated jobs. If you are unsure whether your job fits in to this list then please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your requirements.

[h=5]Room preparation[/h]I am happy to strip off old wallpaper or sand/scrape uneven surfaces prior to plastering. I will also ensure that all floors and surfaces are fully protected before commencing any work. At the end of a job I will clean away all rubbish created, which will be disposed of correctly. I also carry a vacuum cleaner and mop bucket to ensure all work areas are left in a clean state every evening.

[h=5]Reskimming[/h]Old or tired plaster can be quickly treated with a two coat skim to give a smooth wall ready for decoration. If walls are very uneven they can be levelled up using an undercoat plaster prior to skimming to ensure a smooth plumb finish.

[h=5]Tiling[/h]I tile kitchen and bathroom areas, which includes both wall and floor aspects. I am also happy to utilise mosaic tiles and apply beading and sealant where required.

[h=5]Plastering over Artex[/h]This was very popular during the 70’s and 80’s. However, many homeowners now want to either remove the Artex completely, overboard the ceiling or, have it directly skimmed over to provide a smooth surface for decorating.
[h=5][/h][h=5]Patching and plaster repairs[/h]There are a variety of solutions to any size plaster problem you may have. I am happy to repair anything from a small stress crack, up to a gaping hole in the ceiling due to a burst pipe.

[h=5]Plasterboarding[/h]There are various types of plasterboard on the market, ranging from normal usage to specialist insulating, moisture control and soundproofing boards depending on your needs. This can either be mechanically fixed to ceilings and partition walls, or applied using a dot and dab mixture on to brickwork.

[h=5]Coving[/h]Coving, dado or picture rails can add the finishing touch to any room, and can provide a stylish and sophisticated look to an otherwise plain room.

[h=5]Rendering[/h]I am also happy to carry out small external rendering jobs i.e. outbuildings, porches, garden walls etc"

This quoted from her website only looks like she has adapted someone else's website content !

There is no excuse for poor workmanship, and defiantly no allowance on blame.. Walls & floor (substrates) should be prepared accordingly before any tiling work commences!

I'm sorry you have been hit by a cowboy, as far as getting any other tiling work done in your home I recommend you request on this forum for 'I'm looking for a wall & floor tiler'
