First Mosaic job

Just had the misfortune of fixing some of these, the spacing on the mat was shocking, took lot of correcting with spacers and cutting the mat etc

I use panel pins at the bottom of the top row on a sheet, and hang the sheets like curtains and pat flat with my grout float, (does that make sense?)

When our mosaic man fixes a swimming pool, he either carries out his own renders and screeds or sets the points for it to be finished to.
There are NO cuts end to end, or top to bottom if it is a constant depth swimming pool.
To achieve this you must obviously know which mosaic is going to be used first. to make a gauge rod.
Apply this principle to wet rooms, bathrooms and kitchens etc., and save your self hours on not having to cut.

Calvados.

that's a case of fitting a pool to suit the tile mate, mostly kitchens are already made and cuts are unavoidable:smilewinkgrin:

spacers on mosaics, pins, thick adhesive :yikes: why not use use a suitable adhesive with loads of body

i fitted a quartz border tile last month and there is no way on this earth it would stop upright without the aid of a pin and spacers. the tiles were very heavy aswell and even after a day of drying the tiles were wanting to crush the border.i ended up battoning the required space and fitted the tiles above first. i was using mapei grip d1.

Yes i would have thought so with those tiles on top i was thinking about mosaics and not having a go at anybody i use spacers on most tiles but not normally mosaics people find there own way and we all have different ideas the only walls i really tile nowadays are with 600 x 600 porcelain or mosaics mapiegrip d1 is that a cement based adhesive ?

the mapea grip is a tub adhesive but its the best grip adhesive ive used, its strength is far superior to any other tub adhesive ive used, upper reveals on windows etc are no problem with it.
