job done..still no sign of money..

hi ladies 'n gents
did a job for ltd company couple of months ago..send them an invoice..
two months later no sign of money..I've contacted them few times asking whats
going on 'n they saying that financial dep. got my invoice 'n will be paid soon...
not a big sum of money but still a principle..
any advice how to get my money off them highly appreciated

A mate who used to do work for a large company had to wait 60 days and that depended what time of the month he put his invoice in..

Do you really expect to get the money Daz..???

Some of the companies I've worked for in the past were 60 days from the end of the month you put your invoice in. So in theory, you could be waiting for 3 months if you invoiced them on the first of the month.

Nag them and insist on getting a payment date or it will drag on. If you irritate them enough they'll pay to get you off their back.

done a few jobs like this,30 day payment details and ended up waiting 60...phoned and harrased for the money

didnt work for them again as materials and tiles were also paid for by myself upfront

What were your terms of trading? Do you charge a % interest on overdue accounts.
If you are prepared to give them 30days they will take more.
If you accepted their terms than you should know how long you will have to wait and then send them a reminder with your interest charges for late payment.
Have you worked for them before - why did they choose you - do you want more work from them!
How many other tilers do they owe money too?

Been there many times before and the time spent chasing money is often not worth the energy and certainly not worth doing any more for them.

on top of that a customer who is delighted with his new bathroom but
went it came to the money subject started playing an idiot(again cant pay at agreed time)
so Im a ticking bomb today

You need to stipulate your terms on the commencing of the job. Ask this company what their terms are, it could be as simple as they only pay on 60 or 90 days terms.

Live and learn if that their way dont do busines with them again or bill them 60 days before you start the job!

If you pm me your email address, I will send you at 7 day warning letter of court proceedings - that usually works for me - limited companies cannot have county court judgements against them. It also costs a small amount to issue the court proccedings.
