The start is in sight getting excited now but nervous

hey guys im booking my tiling course tomorrow for feb now i dont expect to be as good as you guys to start buy have to start some where im very excited and very nervous. Ive ran my own handyman buisness for a short while and made some people happy and earnt a few quid . Im really hoping this we work for me and gonna put 100 percent in. ive been reading through alot of posts and threads on here and its proving very usefull. im hoping there be some experenced chaps on here to help me out with advice in the future because im bound to have a few teething problems cheers all and merry christmas

there's lots of experienced tilers on here who'll be more than glad to help you. good luck with your new venture and may i offer you one bit of advice, always do your best, don't rush and never let anyone down. if you're unable to turn up to work for whatever reason just phone and let them know. nothing worse than being let down

I did a course in April this year and its gradually working out for me but it was hard to start with, getting customers and getting known. Finally getting the hang of it (well a bit) until I find something new I didn't cover on the course but everyone on here has been so helpful.

Hi Davebates and welcome, don't worry there's nothing to be nervous about as long as you dont take on high end work in your first week, get to know ceramic and porcelain first before you tackle the bigger natural stone jobs.
You are already used to dealing with customers so your half way there and you'll know that most people are nice and good payers, you need to avoid the 'riff raff' though (unpleasant/non payers etc).

Hi Davebates and welcome to the forum. I work as a handyman too and specialise in kitchens and bathrooms so there's a lot of tiling involved. The key, as you said, is making the customer happy. Crack that and the jobs will roll in. Quality, quality, quality (oh, and punctuality, reliability, cleanliness, etc !). The pro tilers on this forum are amazing - a great source of information and tips plus some special "get out of trouble" tips too.
