I use Avast. I would recommend it. Definately one of the best free anti virus programs
Macafee and Norton are a nightmare as far as I am concerned Ed! First thing I uninstall if ever I get a new computer!! I am using AVG Internet Security and the licence is valid for 2 years not one, not expensive either if I recall, around £40 I think?thanks for all the replies, the more the merrier
if you were me, would you remove the macafee, so it doesnt interfear with the avg or any other new anti virus soft ware??/ the avg seems to be popular, might opt for that and any other extras that could benefit
any thoughts??
cheers ed.......

AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Home and Small Office Security
Good word Mike, I will remember that one..........
I managed to start in safe mode and download spybot, that found over 200 high risk bugs and tons of others, the worst ones take over everything and insist that you have to download their stuff to get rid of the virus, it costs a minimum of $30, spybot managed to get rid of them and I managed to get everything back to normal (I think).
The pc keeps freezing now and then and I have had to press the reset button 3 times because nothing was happening. I now have AVG, Microsoft security essentials and spybot, I also have an aerosol of bug spray in case they come back. What a nightmare.
Thanks to all that helped with advice.
