can anybody shine some laser or light on something for me?

I ended up with the a Bosch gtl2 laser square, which Neale mentioned.

ideally I would've liked the pls one from tradetiler, but a wee bit pricey at the moment - I'm not ruling it out as a future purchase though!

thats a great bit of kit! I used Stanley one for yrs ( like Bosch) and hesitated over PLS until I bit the bullet! Didn't regret it for one second the moment I picked it up.

If you were going for a tile which is bigger than the laser it's self, how do you expand the laser widths?
All u do is move laser to the corner of the tile and the cross hairs will still dissect your lines. I only turned the laser on the 45 to the tiles to accurately check if it was square. As long as laser line cuts all corners u know the whole floor is square.

I was down tonight giving this floor a slurry coat. It had been levelled with SLC, but there have been numerous other people in walking on it since it was levelled (against my advice), so to be on the safe side, I put an sbr slurry coat over the top before I start tiling it on Friday morning, so will get to try out the laser then.

Well, I am pleased to report that the floor laser was a fantastic piece of equipment. Made the settling out so much easier and quicker, particularly as the room I'm working in has walls that run every which way but straight!

i did learn one important lesson: Never let someone else level a floor for you - whilst it is better than it was it is still quite far from perfect!

i was there for about five hours today and I managed to lay only 28 tiles, as I'm having to 'bed up' pretty much every tile to make up for the floor. Less than happy!

On the plus side, my time included cutting the tiles for the edges

Glad you have got on with it.
I am using my Stabila laser for floors as well as walls. Great piece of kit.

They are fantastic for setting out especially when things aren't straight.

On the subject of levelling, I won't tile it unless it's level and flat to my standard and or I have done it myself 🙂

The stabila is great, the black and white floor I did,on the diagonal ,4 different rooms ,with the laser and a calculator to hand,on each wall each diagonal cut was the same, nowt run out on nigh on 20 walls.
Surprised mesen with that !
