Time's Ran Out

Nowt serious!
Pulling away from a roundabout and bump - from behind!
Got out and a young lady had driven into the back of my van.
She was obviously upset and we exchanged details.
Well I informed my insurance co. and instead of asking me to get a quote /take it to wherever - they put me in touch with a claim company who will handle everything and 2 hours later I had a solicitor on the phone askng what injuries have occured.
Me -I've contacted the young Lady to see if she would like to have my van repaired at her expense first.
Otherwise for her it may well be van rental/loss of earnings/loss of excess/increased premiums etc - I can only offer - its her choice.

Very nice offer TJ, too many of these claim types about these days.

EDIT: on a side note, did you ask / give permission to your insurance company to pass on your details ? I was plagued years ago after such a prang.

Makes a nice change for the insurance company to do the right thing

Nobody hurt........so thats the main thing

Had the same when a women drove into the back of my van when I was parked outside a policemans house where I was working.

My insurance put me onto a claims company, brand new transit for 2 weeks and the other persons insurance paid me £2000 for the damage.

The van I had was'nt worth £500 let alone £2000, cost £350 to get the damage sorted, the remainder went into my slush fund:smilewinkgrin:

Sounds like one of those ambulance chasing solicitors firms, trying to get you to claim some 'whipcash',

too many these days climb out of front vehicle pretending to have sore neck!!😳
well done John, you done the right thing all round:thumbsup:

I just want my van repaired!
Trouble is I have to get back to the Claim company in the morning so she's going to have to let me know before 9am.

as you say you can only offer her the chance but in the current climate and with xmas, she more than probably will go the insurance route.

Be carefull when you renew John if you dont go through the insurance and she pays for the repair, even if you dont claim you will have to declare if asked that you have had an accident, (not a claim) as they will have recorded it.

Even if you say you havent, they will have access to the record, and will give you insurance, let you pay your premium then void it when you come to claim if anything happens again.

They seem to be trying to knock more and more claims in recent times, my mate got burgled, he had just under £10k of stuff nicked, his insurance refused to pay out because when doing his house up last year he damaged a door, a week later someone put a window through, so he claimed for it on his house insurance, adding the door on aswell, the insurance spoke to his neighbour who shopped him for damaging the door himself, they paid the claim out at the time and didnt say anything, then when he claimed for the burglary they refused to pay out stating that his previous claim was false and therfore they were voiding his insurance.

Good advice lads!
Her mother has just rang asking if she can have the van repaired/costed tomorow.
More than happy to allow her to get someone to look at it and told her I'd wait until wednesday to reply to insurance claim.
Hope it doesn't come back to bite me!

I renewed the insurance on my ducato on sunday and used one of the comparison sites, I saved over £120 on my normal brokers price and beat direct lines quote by £140 so I recommend go compare for van insurance quotations

Maybe a call to your insurance company stating your proposal to the girl to pay up to fix it, see what they say about it affecting your policy, if at all now, and for future notifications / claims.

Why don't you start your own thread!
A title such as 'I recommend this insurance co' may work!
I don't know - salesmen!
:lol::lol::lol::lol:

i had a prang a short while ago where i was not at fault and about 90% of the people i told or spoke to about it said why did you not have a injury claim? it shocked me that so many suggested this is it the norm now ? it was only a slow rear shunt like this one and i had no injury at all no where near! so why would i go thru the bloomin hassle just to get a couple of extra quid? and in the long run contribute to putting premiums up

One of the lads was following a battered old Saab and the driver braked for no reason causing my mate to go into the back off him, they were crawling along at about 15mph so no damage was done but suddenly the guy got out and he's holding his neck and moaning, my mate is nobody's fool and knew the guy had done it on purpose so he warned him that unless he got back in his car and dissappeared then he would have whiplash pretty soon. The guy smiled and said "fair play mate, you gotta try" and drove off.

I hate the claim culture that has been creeping into Britain over the last 10 years.

Good on you TJ for offering to do the sensible thing:thumbsup:

Had a phone call earlier this year from a claim company wanting to know what injuries I suffered when my daughter had an accident last year.

I wasn't even in the car, was 15 miles away. I am not insured to drive it and as she has been married for 10 years we have different surnames and live at different addresses so how did they get my details?

Had a job convincing them - according to our records/information etc etc - well sorry love your information is wrong.
