I know Charlie we all are, I've just done 60 sq mts of 120x120 cm tiles and it's backbreaking stuff, but we should all understand our limitations and morally it's wrong to accept a contract for which we have limited experience and yet commit others to expenditure, loss of earnings, and ultimately loss of future work.
There are too many chancers in our trade who believe they can fudge their way through work which should take years to fully understand.
but how do we then push ourselves to the next level John? sometimes you have to gain confidence to take that next step,,,obviously backfired in this case, but if we all stood still and stuck to our comfort zone then surely we'd never progress our skills?

On your own job so you don't give someone else a bad name and leave them the mess to sort out behind you

If the person couldnt do the job he should have said so at the outset that he wasnt confident enough, there is too many people out there that think tiling is easy and anyone can do it , well this judt goes to prove otherwise, this trade ode of ours is not just about square rooms with no setting out and no cutting and the sooner people realise that the better, and I'll not even go down that route of courses and multi traders:sofahide:

i would like to add to this thread that i am true tiler for this developer and needed a hand with finishing this job hence why i advertised on the forum and timeless john replied about the post, ascot tiling got somebody in who after the first hour i knew that he didn't have a clue, he wasn't going to earn money the way he was tiling and the wall that he did i had to strip off and do again, the job isn't 9 million it is only a 2 million build to the developer and st gorges hill was never an option as i have 4 tilers booked in for 10 weeks in july!! that is a 9 million job... sorry guys but you do take a chance when you hire a handyman which is what was written on his van, jack of all trades and master off none springs to mind

Ahhh so St.Georges was the dangling carrot, as I was asked to quote the full job at Virginia Water and only got 3 bathrooms as they felt loyal to you.. but was promised St.Georges if I undertook the part project.. well I see this in a different light now.. Thanks for that ;-)

It must be an age issue but when you say I replied about the post did you reply?

I am confused now this is like the old comedy show "soap" whose job is this Ritetouch's or M3 fitter's ? is M3 fitter a subby for rite touch and did the newbie then sub off of m3 fitter ?
I do understand that when you are under pressure on a job and someone says they can do it you are willing to give them a try and I do sympathise for M3 in this but I would just move on tbh

I've just read post 75 again and it sounds as though
i was the tiler/handyman
It would be good if you clarify your positions and if indeed I did a days work in my sleep would you forward my pay !
